Boat Safety Examination in Staffordshire

What is the Boat Safety Scheme?

The Boat Safety Scheme, or BSS, works on behalf of the UK’s Navigation Authorities who are committed to help prevent boat fires, explosions or pollution harming other people or property whilst enjoying their waterways.

Today, the BSS is much more than an examination… Education and promotion of safety is equally important, perhaps even more so as there are hazards and risks linked to the use of fuels and appliances even when the boat itself is in a safe condition. How often do I need a BSS examination?

The BSS certificate issued after a successful BSS examination remains valid for four years, subject to the boat owner maintaining the boat to the required standards.
